Lake Tahoe is a popular destination for weddings. Couples from all over the country (and world) travel to Sierra Nevada Mountain lake taking advantage of the amazing natural beauty the area has to offer. This couple flew to Tahoe from Indiana for their dream destination wedding only to be rained out by a surprise storm that had rolled in. Complete with thunder lightning and hail the wedding was in limbo as the Heavenly Gondola was the only way to reach the ceremony site high on the mountain.
Not only was the weather in Tahoe throwing a wrench in the couples plan but a hurricane in Florida effected the wedding in a way that brought me in to do the photos. The original photographer was stuck in Florida due to a hurricane that had shut down all the airports, unable to get to Lake Tahoe the brides sister took to social media to find a wedding photographer in Tahoe to photograph the wedding. A friend reached out to me asking if I was available and less than 24 hours later I was heading up for the wedding.
After the storm had subsided (after the ceremony of course) we had a 15 minute window of opportunity to get some outdoor photos. The sky looked angry and there were puddles everywhere but to me that was just fuel for my creative fire. This photograph resulted and quickly became not only one of my favorite images from this wedding but the entire year!
