Preferred Event Vendors
The people you meet in the event industry are some of the hardest working, creative, and overall amazing people on the planet. The skills needed to transform ideas into reality takes much more than a business card. In the 15 plus years I have been an accidental citizen of this industry I have worked the best vendors but I have also seen the worst, and its my experience that has taught me the difference. When I refer another vendor, for any type of event, I do it with 100% confidence that they will do the very best job for the client AND that the service they provide is what the client is looking for.
There is a term or word that has come about in recent years.
Friendor (noun) - a person or persons met through working in the trenches of the event industry together that has become a friend.
All of the listed vendors personify that definition.
Event Coordinator / Event Rentals
If you need someone to help coordinate your wedding or event there is no one better than Rayna Hess with Eventfully Yours, Event Designs by Rayna. Coordinators are like photographers, EVERYONE knows at least a dozen, however there are none like Rayna (and her staff). This is why she gets her own category. Eventfully Yours does full coordination and planning as well as day-of coordination. They also offer full event coordination for corporate events and conferences. In the same building you will find their sister company (managed by Rayna's actual sister), Chairs For Affairs. Chairs for Affairs is your one stop shop for everything you may need for ANY type of event. Weddings, Corporate Events, Intimate Dinners, Birthday Parties, you name it they can get you what you need.
DJs / Emcee's / Event Lighting
I could tell you HORROR stories of bad DJ's from weddings and events that I have photographed. At one wedding I had to download the couples music on my phone and plug it into the DJ's equipment because their CD PLAYER broke! Another DJ played cheesy sound effects after almost everything the emcee said and at the end of each toast. These Entertainment professionals I recommend won't embarrass you, won't make you cringe when they talk, and won't end up in my horror story files. A good DJ/Emcee/Entertainment Company can take a wedding reception to the next level without making it all about them. Anyone can play music but being able to read a crowd, play appropriate music for whose on the dance floor and having professional microphone skills is what sets these guys apart from the rest. Your party will be talked about for years to come with any of these vendors at the helm.
I have heard that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but when it comes to flowers at a wedding or important event there is a HUGE difference between a florist and a floral designer. Because of this I am VERY particular on who I refer for flowers. I recommend 3 very talented floral designers. Each of them have their own style that sets them apart and each of them typically stay in their own regions. That is why I refer them based on location.
Wedding venues are everywhere and can be in the most unlikely places. Even if a space is gorgeous or a perfect blank canvas it can still turn into a problem when the big day comes. I refer clients looking for venues to a location not only for the aesthetics of the property but for the way the property is managed. Bad management, coordination and/or staff can turn even the most beautiful space into a nightmare, while the opposite is true as well. Great people make great venues. A picturesque venue with professional staff is what puts a venue on my list.
